Who has interest in farm business?
There are several people and organisations that have an interest or stake in an agricultural business – these are referred to as Stakeholders.
Stakeholder: An individual/group who have an interest in the business and may be affected by it’s activities. These can be:
Internal stakeholder:
- An individual/group who are involved in the business directly by being or representing members of the workforce.
- Owners (sole trader, partners)
- Employees
- Trade unions
External stakeholder:
- An individual/group with links to the business but no direct representation. Shareholders, suppliers, investors, lenders, local community, pressure groups, government, financial businesses
Stakeholder Conflict
Stakeholders don’t always agree what is best for a business this is called stakeholder conflict.
